Performance leap at FIBRO Rotary Tables: New specifications and new heavy-duty table

Weinsberg, Germany – May 4, 2026. FIBRO Rotary Tables is raising the performance ratings of its FIBROTOR series in two significant steps. The fixed-index automation rotary tables FIBROTOR ER and FIBROTOR EM now handle a 25 percent higher moment of inertia at the same indexing times. The company is also launching the advanced FIBROTOR VR.NC 2.0, a new version of its NC-controlled, heavy-duty rotary table, which delivers 60 percent greater stiffness and tilting moment.
Proven technology, reevaluated
Building rotary tables that remain in service for 20 or 30 years requires engineering margins. FIBRO Rotary Tables has now systematically reevaluated those margins. In extensive test bench trials, the FIBROTOR ER and EM were subjected to loads up to 50 percent above their previous specifications. The results of the subsequent long-term tests gave the engineering team the confidence to raise the performance ratings by 25 percent across all sizes.
“We are comfortable with this step. As mechanical engineers from Southern Germany, we tend to be very conservative when it comes to these matters,” says Rüdiger Dietz, Head of Design for the Rotomotion Division at FIBRO Rotary Tables.
Since no design changes were made to the tables themselves, existing customers benefit as well. Anyone operating a FIBROTOR ER or EM can now deploy it in a new application with greater flexibility. For new installations, the economic advantage is clear: where a larger table size was previously recommended due to the moving loads involved, a smaller rotary table can now be confidently specified.
FIBROTOR VR.NC 2.0: Next-generation heavy-duty rotary table
In parallel with the upgraded specifications, FIBRO Rotary Tables has fundamentally redesigned its NC-controlled heavy-duty rotary table, the FIBROTOR VR.NC. Version 2.0 features a new cam, a new bearing and a new drive concept. The result is 60 percent greater stiffness and a 60 percent higher tilting moment.
The advantage of the new design is particularly evident under asymmetric loading, a common scenario in automation. When workpieces are loaded or unloaded, a temporary imbalance occurs. The VR.NC 2.0 handles this condition significantly better than its predecessor.
For reference, a FIBROTOR VR.NC size 17 has a diameter of 650 millimeters yet can move indexing platens of up to 4.7 meters. In the automotive industry, rotary tables like these rotate car body parts into robotic cells for welding and other assembly operations. In these applications, the challenge is often not the weight of the workpiece itself but rather the mass of the fixture required for processing.
“Our customers invest in rotary tables that run for decades. Being able to tell them that their FIBROTOR is capable of more than we previously guaranteed is a strong signal. And with the VR.NC 2.0, we are simultaneously bringing a further development to market that shows how quickly we now respond to customer requirements,” says Dr. Heiko Asum, Managing Owner of FIBRO Rotary Tables. Klaus Kerth, Chief Customer Officer (CCO), adds: “Not only are the demands for stiffness and load capacity increasing, but so is the need for what we call the smaller solution. We can give our customers what they need.”
The FIBROTOR VR.NC 2.0 is available from May 2026.
